Christy Clark Branding Campaign – Design & Development
Introduction:
On December 8, 2010, Christy Clark officially announced her intent to seek the leadership of the BC Liberal Party to become the 35th Premier of British Columbia. To achieve this, Christy Clark's campaign team needed a brand that connected with voters in the BC Liberal party.
Challenge:
Christy Clark's campaign team needed various brand collateral to clearly communicate her platform. These positive brand elements and various online tools were needed to engage the members of the BC Liberal Party to take action and vote and to promote her brand among the rest of British Columbians.
Strategy:
KIMBO Design created a distinctive logotype along with various brand elements for the Christy Clark campaign. The goal was to connect with voters in the BC Liberal party in creating an inspiring, cohesive, and winning image. The abstract rising sun, in bright yellow and warm blue colours was the symbol of new beginnings and paired with the sunrise in the glowing BC flag.
The BC flag complemented the brand as a secondary element and as a backdrop in all print and media channels. KIMBO Design integrated the brand into social media channels by customizing graphic elements in Christy Clark's profiles on Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. In addition, all campaign brand collateral was created so that voters could show their support by wearing and sharing their support and by adding a custom personal profile picture to their own social media profiles.
Result:
KIMBO Design provided a positive image to the branding and design of each print and online media item. The brand effectively assisted Christy Clark in communicating her vision to the people of British Columbia. The branding campaign was a success and Christy Clark became the 35th premier of British Columbia and the second woman in history to hold this office.
