The Microsoft Canada Impact Awards are one of the most prestigious recognitions for Canadian partners that are innovating and driving exceptional outcomes using Microsoft technology. If you’re thinking of submitting in 2025, now is the time to start planning.
At KIMBO Design, we’ve helped clients navigate this competitive awards process — including Invero, a finalist in Microsoft Impact Awards for the Modernizing Applications category. Their story, which focused on digital transformation and deep Microsoft integration, stood out thanks to a powerful narrative, sharp design, and well-aligned metrics. So, what does it take to craft a winning submission?
- Start Early — Don’t Wait for the Official Categories
Microsoft usually releases categories and criteria in the spring, with a submission deadline in mid-June. But if you wait until then, you’re already behind. The strongest submissions are those that take time to plan, structure, and refine. Even without the final criteria, you can begin gathering success metrics, client stories, and visuals now — and refine them once categories are released. - Tell a Story, Not Just a List of Features
Judges are reading through dozens (or hundreds) of entries. What makes yours memorable is a compelling, human-centered story. How did you solve a real-world problem? What did your customer achieve? How did Microsoft technology enable it? With Invero, we focused on the impact they had on workplace productivity and security for a major client — something both tangible and relatable. - Use Data to Back It Up
It’s not enough to say your solution had a big impact — you need to show it. Use metrics that reflect before-and-after changes: time saved, costs reduced, productivity gained, security risks mitigated. Bonus points if you can align those results with Microsoft’s own priorities. - Align Closely with Microsoft Technologies
Be specific about the Microsoft stack you used. Azure, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Dynamics — whatever the tools, demonstrate that your solution is deeply tied to Microsoft’s ecosystem. Highlight any co-selling efforts or collaborative wins, as these strengthen your alignment with their goals. - Polish the Presentation
Design matters. A well-structured submission with clear headings, impactful visuals, and strong writing can set you apart. With Invero, we designed a clean, visually engaging case study that made their story easy to digest and hard to forget. - Ready to Win in 2025?
