Social Media Innovation for Establishing Engagement

Are you integrating your social media accounts into your website? Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Pinterest will help deliver eyeballs to your content, as well as expanding your reach. We know that it’s imperative for brands to have a presence across social media, but are we using channels to their full advantage? Are you practicing social media innovation? Just because you are on a social media platform, doesn’t mean that it’s being utilized. You need to focus on social media innovation.

Social media success requires effort. You’re posting updates, sharing information, including share buttons on webpages, and building connections with prospective customers. But is this an adequate strategy for engagement?

It’s now fairly common to see a Twitter feed displayed at an event, presenting any tweets containing an assigned hashtag. It’s a clever way of showing a real-time view of the event and encourages other people to join in so they can see their own message displayed. But the question remains, about whether or not this kind of strategy will work for the other social media channels.

An Example of Social Media Innovation

We recently designed the Work West Kootenay website, a recruitment portal which encourages prospective employees to relocate to the region. In order to give users of the site a true experience of the beautiful surroundings of the Kootenay region, we programmed in an Instagram feed of photos, live from the West Kootenay. Now, whenever a photo or video on Instagram is tagged #WestKootenay it will appear on the website, to create a dynamic portrait of the region, influenced by the people who live there. This is a specific example of how we use social media innovation to help our clients.

It gives the website a sense of authenticity, knowing that the images and videos are coming from people actually in the West Kootenay. The interactive feed will keep developing organically, with new images and videos being added to the stream whenever the hashtag is used. It’s just one of the ways that we continue evolving how we use social media innovation to build brand awareness.
