FarmFolk CityFolk

Since 1993 FarmFolk CityFolk has connected, empowered, and inspired people to strengthen sustainable food systems, as British Columbia’s oldest and largest food and agriculture charitable non-profit organization.

The ultimate objective for this project was to provide a modern, clean & user friendly website as well as refresh the outdated branding, while incorporating some complex functionality for handling large amounts of content. This included a redesign of the old logotype, creating a new and vibrant color palette, design and development of new website.

The Challenge

FarmFolk CityFolk was looking to move away from their outdated logo and tired of being trapped in a box. FFCF considered that the forks still had a lot of brand equity in defining who they are, so when they came to us for a rebrand, they brought an updated line art version of their forks. This was vital in our decisions & choices for creating their new logo.

In addition, FarmFolk CityFolk wanted to redesign their website to showcase updated branding & provide users with a better experience and visuals that reflected their values and vibrant new look.

The Strategy:

We used those new forks as a jump-off point where we further refined the table fork/pitchfork icon and reoriented them, pointing them up for an uplifting look. We paired the new icon with a modern font with a hint of retro warmth that we customized to bring a nice cohesion to the identity. We worked closely with FFCF to create a rich colour palette with some punchy tones to give the brand energy.
