In continuation of our previous collaboration with Coast Mental Health in redesigning the Foundation’s website, KIMBO was commissioned once again to expand the capabilities of this website with a dedicated fundraising landing page titled Coast Mental Health Imagine to encourage donations from site visitors.

The Challenge:
The landing page is directly linked to Coast Mental Health’s homepage and displayed front and centre. This page carried over the design philosophy we applied to Coast Mental Health’s main site. We know that in order to encourage donations from site visitors, we must first allow a personal or emotional connection to be formed. To build more empathy for people struggling with mental health, a number of Coast clients agreed to share their own personal stories on the website.
The Strategy:
Personal stories presented in the website are all accompanied by a corresponding YouTube video, which we had custom coded to pop out within page instead of a pop-up window to make the user journey for making donations more fluid. The rest of the webpage also darkens when a video is clicked, which makes it easier for the audience to remain focused on what is being played. But what is more important than encouraging donations is connecting with those who suffer from mental illness. These personal stories show them that they are not alone and that there are resources out there that can help them.
Results
We built a WordPress template for the project so that this landing page is reusable for future campaigns with minimal additional programming. We also incorporated Coast Mental Health’s donation form and Blackbaud online payment system directly into the landing page. This again minimizes the number of new pages a potential donor has to go through before being able to make a donation.
Social media icons were integrated right in the centre just below the donation form. This encourages site visitors to not only consider donating but also to share the message and spread the word on their own social media networks. This gives Coast Mental Health an extra boost of presence on social media through organic sharing.
