The Challenge
The District of Ucluelet’s website needed a refresh to better align with the abilities of its residents and staff. Their document library needed to be reorganized as it contained a number of repetitive documents. In addition, the colours in the District’s brand booklet didn’t meet accessibility standards, requiring KIMBO to strike a balance between creative excellence and accessibility to meet the needs of Ucluelet’s older residents.

The Strategy
KIMBO took a UC approach by focusing on developing the site’s internal efficiency, accessibility, and futureproofing. We rebuilt the website using WordPress for long-term flexibility and ease of maintenance so staff can easily manage the website pages. The site was designed with minimal reliance on plugins, keeping it fast, secure, and stable. Visually, the new website combines a clean, modern, and community-focused design that works seamlessly across all devices.

Results
KIMBO’s final product and successful launch of the new website exceeded the District’s expectations. Through close collaboration, the website incorporated KIMBO’s recommended video art to showcase the area’s natural beauty and character, helping build community pride. Designed with a more logical site architecture and document library, visitors and staff can access critical information quickly and efficiently. KIMBO provided Ucluelet with scalable infrastructure and flexible tools, allowing the new platform to grow alongside the District’s needs.
