The purpose of this initiative is to attract foreign direct investment to the technology industry in the Vancouver Island corridor region (containing 8 different communities, working as joint project partners for this initiative). We were commissioned by the VICEDA to design and develop a fresh brand and a new website for this specific purpose.
Fully responsive website for use on mobile and desktop devices.
As this is a whole new initiative that had to be developed from the ground up. We first developed the Tech Island brand for the investment attraction initiative so that all deliverables are aligned in terms of style and look/feel. Serving as VICEDA’s primary online engagement portal for attracting potential investors, the brand-new Tech Island WordPress website houses an integrated video showreel, along with additional functionalities such as listing of businesses in the area available for investment. This makes the website an ideal one-stop destination for prospective investors.
The Strategy
KIMBO’s proposed strategy and corresponding materials (e.g. web content, blog articles, creative assets, social media posts, etc.) will emphasize showing the community, space, and unique advantages that Vancouver Island has to offer. We did this all while improving the site’s SEO juice by creating 24 blog articles about organizations and businesses in the Vancouver Island corridor on the attractiveness of its readily-investments in the tech sector – see here for the stories. We had researched, developed, and published all 24 stories which includes six interviews with businesses and organizations such as TRAK Kayaks, InWater Tech, SEAMOR Marine, Relish, VMAC, and DigArts.
Tech Island stories page
To enhance organic reach, we’ve used the blog articles approach in tandem with social media management and published these 24 stories on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter. The social media posts were shared by some of the businesses featured, which increased its visibility and raised impressions. The economic development members also contributed to this success with shares on their own social media pages.

In addition to the website. We also produced four promotional videos in collaboration with Six Degrees Productions for the project, some of which are being displayed on the website. This encompassed footage from 8 different communities on Vancouver Island as well as interviews and drone shots. The video below is one of the videos we’ve made available on their website and YouTube channel.
Results
The website and the videos have been completed and launched to VICEDA. Initial reactions have been positive, and involving the communities in the video production really brought the area together for this project as well. Since its launch in May, the site has received a 273% boost in traffic.
