The Challenge:

The client wanted to promote the benefits of working and living in the West Kootenay area. With lucrative jobs in the metallurgical and health care industries available, the campaign goal is to attract recent graduates of BCIT, SFU, UBC, and other BC schools, as well as industry association members and trades people, to live and work in the region. Job seekers have the ability to find information about employment opportunities, real estate, education and activities in the West Kootenay region, which includes the communities of Trail, Rossland, Fruitvale, Montrose, Warfield, and the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary Areas A & B.

The Strategy:

KIMBO Design developed the¬†website as a one-stop resource for job seekers looking for a new lifestyle. The website’s Work Hard section helps job seekers browse local employers and enables candidates to connect with skilled trade jobs and career opportunities, while learning about the region’s key employers through engaging content and visuals. The website also employs innovative social media tools to promote life in the West Kootenay, including a live Instagram feed that automatically displays photos tagged #westkootenay, creating a living and breathing picture of the region, seen through the eyes of its residents and tourists passing through.

KIMBO Design captured a live snapshot of the Lower Columbia Region through the website. The site attracted website traffic and attention from employers, job seekers, and the design community. Work West Kootenay has been nominated for a 2013 Graphex Award. For more information about Work West Kootenay, please watch the short video below.
